How to try again

Waiting for My Old Self to Return (She Isn't Coming Back)

Half of my closet is currently sitting on my bedroom floor -- all inside out and discombobulated from me trying everything on.

I got invited to this really cool party Kit's hosting tonight in New York City and let's just say...

😬 There are some really incredible people going who I'm nervous to meet.

"You still get nervous going to these things?!" my friend asked me the other day.

"Every single time!" I replied.

"But you keep going?" she asked, a hint of judgment in her tone.

"Every single time!" I replied again.

It's never been easy for me to go to these types of parties, or speak on stages, or attend big conferences. I wasn't comfortable when I started my business, and things only got worse after losing both of my parents.

I don't think I've met anyone who says, "I love walking into a room full of powerful people I've never met! I don't doubt myself at all... I always think I belong!"

In fact, after my parents died, I'd decided I'd never go to a big gathering or conference until I felt "back to my old self."

I figured I'd wait to apply to speak at a conference until I felt better.

I decided I wouldn't join any masterminds until I felt like being social and being around people I didn't know again.

I wouldn't bother growing my business until I felt more "like myself" -- the old me that felt more relaxed, comfortable around strangers, and not so overstimulated by blaring Justin Bieber music and loud talkers.

I waited and waited, expecting to turn inside out like a Transformer back into my old self...

But it never happened.

Turns out, when you've been through something really big -- whether it's loss, divorce, having kids, illness, job change, etc. -- you're not really ever the "old you" again.

Because it turns out, there really was no normal...

There's just now.

So whether you're waiting to start your online business until you feel a certain way...

Or you're waiting to take photos for your business until you look a certain way (talking to myself here!!)...

Or you're just waiting because... well, you don't even know why. Maybe for things to feel normal or like they used to?

This is your gentle nudge to get back out there and try again.

There is no "normal" coming to save us.

We are not going back.

We deal with what we have, when we have it.

We have to try again.

That's exactly what my dear friend, Steve Kamb, wrote about in his new book, How to Try Again. ORDER IT HERE→

In it, he's teaching us to give up more often, fail smarter, and learn the art of starting over.

Just a thing or two I know a little something about ;)

This is 100% not sponsored -- unless "sponsored by friendship" is a thing.

It's just a really good book that will help us all ditch our unrealistic expectations, fail more compassionately, and try again with humor, resilience, and openness.

I hope you read Steve's book (I did and loved it!!) and let me know how you like it.

Hit "reply" and let me know if this email hit the spot -- and if you're going to check out his book!
