She's Giving Expansion
The old me would never write this email to you.
She would have felt the need to apologize for how many emails she's sent you lately.
She would worry about what to write, spending hours overanalyzing every sentence, fearing something she would say would come off the wrong way.
The old me was so comfortable hiding herself. She was told from an early age that her job was to make others shine.
Honestly, I've walked to and from the kitchen 3 times to make more mint tea, agonizing over what to write to you today...
Because I'm not that old me.
I can feel myself changing.
Expanding, really.
I told my mindset coach (Jen!) the other day, "I'm not playing things down anymore. It's not cute."
I'm not including the words "just" or "tiny" anywhere near the phrases "my business" or "my book."
Each day, I write in my journal:
✍️ I am an author.
🎧 I am a podcaster.
☕️ I am addicted to coffee.
What are you nervous to declare, Reader?
It's time to own it.
Taking up some space in Chile (Patagonia) in December - I spent the month there!
Instead of apologizing for how many emails you've gotten from me lately...
Or recognizing how much I've "asked" of people to pre-order my book or purchase the Ultimate Bundle® during its sale last week...
I'm working on sitting with the discomfort of taking up space. For asking for "a lot."
Somewhat slowly expanding me?
She's a business woman.
She channels her inner Costco CEO and says, "this is what businesses do."
She knows you have to send emails to make sales.
She feels confident that she gives away thousands of dollars worth of free info each week here, on her podcast, and Instagram, so...
When she asks for the sale, she leaves it up to the customer to decide whether the purchase is right for them. (They have agency and you're providing something of value in exchange -- it's not a hostage situation if you don't make it one.)
The truth is, none of us know what 2025 has in store for us.
I know my book When I Start My Business, I'll Be Happy comes out April 15, but I can't control how well it does. (But you can lol. Pre-order it here→)
I know I'm speaking on arguably the best online business stage of my life in June, but I have no idea whether you'll like my speech.
I know I'm on online business superstars' podcasts over the next few weeks as I promote my book, but I don't know whether they'll like me (or what I have to say.)
I'm here for it all.
To show up as the fullest, most expansive version of me.
Like a squirrel nibbling away at a sesame bagel in Central Park... I'm taking up space, little-by-little.

OK, I'm off for a snow hike with Huddy! I'm spending the week up in Vermont (you know it's my biggest hope and dream to buy a 2nd house and huge property up here, right?!) curled up in my coziest Alex Mill sweaters.
